Professional Support Program Guidelines
The NYSAFLT Professional Support Program offers peer support for LOTE-specific needs to NYSAFLT members at any point in their career. It is not intended to replace local forms of support but instead to enhance it. Members who are starting a new teaching assignment, embarking on a new professional endeavor, or facing LOTE-specific challenges are some of the people who would benefit from participation.

Professional support is offered by NYSAFLT members who volunteer to share their experience and insights with their colleagues. Communication between participants takes place primarily through e-mail and telephone communication at times and in ways agreed upon by participants. The program is intended to provide support for a full academic year; therefore, participants must agree to maintain membership in NYSAFLT over a two year period. A complete program description and set of guidelines can be found in the Members Only section of the NYSAFLT website, members.nysaflt.org.

If you believe you would benefit from LOTE-specific professional support as described here and in the program description on-line, please continue by visiting the link below.

If you would like to provide LOTE-specific professional support to a NYSAFLT colleague as described here and in the program description on-line, please continue by visiting the link below.

Matching of participants will take place on an on-going basis as best matches are identified. Matches will be made based on information submitted in the on-line application forms. Those members who are matched prior to the October NYSAFLT Annual Conference will have the opportunity for a face-to-face meeting at that venue. If you have any questions about this program, please contact program facilitator, Joanne O’Toole, at jotoole@nysaflt.org.
